Abstract Details
Purpose:
To report early clinical experience with a foldable, hydrophobic acrylic, natural yellow, single piece C design, injectable, diffractive refractive multifocal intraocular lens (IOL).
Setting:
Bahcesehir University Faculty of Medicine, Medical Park Hospital Goztepe, Istanbul, Turkey
Methods:
Patients had bilateral implantation of Optiflex Multifocal +3.00 D multifocal IOL. Keratometric, refractive and visual data were collected on patients listed for cataract surgery. Bilateral implantation of Optiflex Multifocal IOL was performed after phacoemulsification. The following parameters were carried out; uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at various distance and contrast sensitivity. The eyes were followed for 3 months.
Results:
The study included 24 eyes of 12 patients. At 3 months follow-up, regarding spherical refraction, 85% of the eyes were within ± 0.50 diopters. Cylindrical refraction was within the range of 0.00 to -0.50 in 70% of the eyes. Postoperative UCVA of 20/25 or more was achieved at distance in 67% eyes, at intermediate distance in 81% eyes and at near in 42% eyes. Postoperative BCVA of 20/25 or more was achieved at distance in 100%eyes, at intermediate distance in 88% eyes and at near in 69% eyes.
Conclusions:
Based on our early postoperative experience, we have found that Optiflex Multifocal IOL shows good visual outcome for near, intermediate and distance vision.
