Experience with SBL -3 Dualoptic intraocular lense: prospective 6 months study

Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate the visual outcomes and patient satisfaction after implantation of the new SBL-3 dualoptic intraocular lens (IOL) after cataract surgery.
Setting:
OÄné centrum, Bratislava
Methods:
The SBL -3 Dualoptic IOL was implanted in 50 eyes on 25 patients. Six months follow up study was focused on uncorrected far, near and intermediate vision , contrast sensitivity, defocus curve and patient survey.
Results:
: patients mean uncorrected near vision after 6 month was -0,01 Log MAR, mean uncorrected intermedieate vison measured at 70 cm was 0,02 Log MAR, mean uncorrected far vision -0,08, most of the peatient were satisfied, one patient was unsatisfied. Halo efects was metioned by more than a half of all respondents.
Conclusions:
Authors present their own experienc es with SBL-3 in past two years and coping with common complications which could occur by using this IOL. SBL-3 Dualoptic is a promising choise for patients who want to be glasses independent after cataract surgery, but we should consider several aspects before we decide for this solution for our patient.
