Abstract Details
Purpose:
We evaluated functional outcomes of surgical solution of high myopia with astigmatism and with ROP III.stage by implantation of posterior phakic chamber lens Staar surgical ICL
Setting:
VIKOM s.r.o. – 1.ophtalmological centre Zilina, Vysokoskolakov 31, 01008 Zilina, head of department MUDr. Maria Molnarova, PhD
Methods:
Case report of 24 years old patient with high myopia with spherical equivalent refraction -8,75D on the right and -11,25D on the left with ROP III. stage and with amblyopia. BCVA was 0,32 on the right and 0,25 on the left. We decided to implantate posterior phakic chamber Staar surgical lens as the best solution for myopia and eventually amblyopia. The operation was performed in local anesthesia. We noted good postoperative healing in the right eye, but in the left eye anterior uveitis, which was treated by local and general steroids, was developed. Preoperative and postoperative functional outcomes were compared
Results:
Postoperative UCVA is 0,8+2 on the right eye and 0,5-2 on the left, residual refraction is -0,5Dsf -0,5cyl 160° on the right and -1,0Dsf -2,0cyl 40° on the left. Patient is enthusiastic. Quality of his life has improved.
Conclusions:
We noted unexpected excellent outcomes with significant improvement of vision and reduction of amblyopia after surgical correction by implantation Staar surgical ICL for high myopia with amblyopia.
