Abstract Details
Purpose:
The study was designed to evaluate the intra-individual clinical results after iris-fixated phakic intraocular lens implantation and laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) in the correction of myopia with astigmatism
Setting:
 Hanbit Eye Clinic
Methods:
We investigated retrospectively in 68 patients of iris-fixated phakic intraocular lens implantation and laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) for 12 months follow-up. We analyzed visual acuity, refraction, efficacy, safety, predictability and complications
Results:
There was no significant difference of uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and mean postoperative spherical equivalent (SE) between the eyes treated with of iris-fixated phakic intraocular lens implantation and laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) during 12 months. The patient’s overall satisfaction was good and noticeable complications were not found
Conclusions:
Although follow-up periods was short, simultaneous iris-fixated phakic intraocular lens implantation and laser epithelial keratomileusis (LASEK) was an effective surgery with good predictability, stability and no significant complications
