Abstract Details

Purpose:

To discuss a novel and active treatment for the free and incomplete corneal flap in SBK

Setting:

Excimer laser refractive center of Xijing hospital, the Fourth Military Medical University.

Methods:

Four patients with incomplete corneal flap in SBK were retrospectively analyzed. Incomplete corneal flap happened because negative pressure loss in OUP-SBK refractive surgery. Just because finished corneal flap had crossed the pupil area, we scraped the unfinished flap part with corneal scraper, then continued the predetermined laser ablation. Finally, the eye was covered with one piece of contact lense. Postoperative medication and follow-up were the same as the LASEK. Contact lense was taken off three days after surgery. Uncorrected visual acuity of patients were assessed under standard natural light. The higher order aberration of the eyes was measured by pentacam

Results:

The four cases recovered well with the method. The vision was 20/20 on day 10 as other SBK patients and keep the vision until half an year. The higher order aberration of the four cases were 0.290μm,0214μm and 0.249μm compared with 0.202μm,0.311μm and 0464μm of the fellow eyes, respectively.

Conclusions:

This kind of method can deal with incomplete flap in OUP-SBK surgery and achieved the expected results.
