Abstract Details
Purpose:
To in study the results of LASIK in the eyes of patients who preoperatively orthokeratological contact lenses (OKL).
Setting:
The first group included 10 patients (20 eyes) who used OKL before surgery from 6 months to 1.5 years. The second group – 30 patients (60 eyes) with no contact lens correction.
Methods:
The average value of refraction spherical equivalent (SE) in the first group was -4,1±0,32 D, in the second -4,3±0,28 D. BCVA was 1.0 before the surgery in both group. Dynamic stability control of the curvature of the anterior and posterior corneal surface was exzamined mented using the anterior segment analyzer of the eye «Schwind Sirius».
Results:
1 week after LASIK in the first group SE averaged 0,4 ± 0,27 D, after 1 month – 0,5 ± 0,12 D, after 6 month – 0,4 ± 0,15 D. In the second group after the procedure SE was 0,57 ± 0,2D, after 1 month – 0,55 ± 0,12 D, after 6 months – 0,35 ± 0,22D. BCVA at all stages of follow-up was 1.0. During the of monitoring the rear period posterior elevation of the cornea remained stable and didn't exceed 10 microns.
Conclusions:
Orthokeratological contact lenses do not influence the results of LASIK.
