Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare anterior chamber depth (ACD) measurements between the Nidek AL-Scan and the Sirius Scheimpflug camera system.
Setting:
Cornea and Refractive Surgery Department
Methods:
Twenty-four individual patient eyes with normal ocular examination findings were analyzed. Paired two-tailed t-test was used to compare devices.
Results:
Anterior chamber depth measurements for Nidek AL-Scan and Sirius Scheimpflug camera system were 3.43 ±0.29 (between 2.81 to 4.11) and 3.50 ±0.25 (between 2.85 to 4.21), respectively. Comparing the two instruments using paired samples t-test, a statistically significant difference was found between the measurements obtained for ACD (P = 0.001). The Sirius Scheimpflug System measured longer ACD values than the Nidek AL-Scan.
Conclusions:
Our study showed that the difference in ACD between the Nidek AL-Scan and the Sirius Scheimpflug camera system was statistically significant. This result has to be considered in surgical interventions related to ACD.
