Abstract Details

Purpose:

To asses the repeatability and reproducibility of the Pentacam Scheimpflug Imaging and Nidek AL Scan optical biometry in anterior segment parameters, K1, K2, anterior chamber depth (ACD), white to white (WTW) and central corneal thickness (CCT).

Setting:

Evaluation of diagnostic tests

Methods:

Optic biometry and Pentacam measurements were done. Three consecutive measurements were performed by two operators to determine repeatability. To assess the reproducibility, the mean values of the three measurements of each operator were used. Sw, TRT, CoV, and ICCs were calculated.

Results:

The CoV of intraobserver repeatability of Optical Biometer of K1 of 1st observer was 2.35%. All the other CoVs of repeatability of both Pentacam and Nidek optical biometer were smaller than 1.0%. Reproducibility of Optic Biometry in K1 represented a CoV of 1.79% and a ICC of 0.538 where Pentacam was 0.09% and 0.999. The Pentacam’s CoV of ACD was 1.67% where optic biometer was 0.56%. The CoV of K2, WTW and CCT measurements were all smaller than 1%.

Conclusions:

Both Scheimpflug imaging and Optical Biometry have highly repeatability and reproducibility except K1. Reproducibility of K1 measurements of optic biometer represented higher CoV and lower ICC than Pentacam.
