Abstract Details
Purpose:
To observe the changes of IOP during femtosecond laser cataract surgery with curved applanation patient interface.
Setting:
Shanxi Eye Hospital, Shanxi, China
Methods:
Femtosecond laser cataract surgery was performed by LenSx system with curved applanation patient interface. Intraocular pressure was measure using a rebound tonometer (i Care PRO) after different time point, when the suction ring and corneal contact lens removed.
Results:
The mean baseline IOP was 18.09 ± 2.91 mm Hg before surgery. The IOP increased to 21.61 ± 10.55 mm Hg without statistical difference (P=0.188) 30 seconds after docking process. The IOP decreased to 16.80 ± 5.55 mm Hg at 2 minutes, which was statistically significant (P=0.028). It remained baseline from 3 minutes to 10 minutes. There was no statistical association between IOP rise and suction time. There was also no relationship between IOP rise and mean laser emission time.
Conclusions:
The change of the IOP during femtosecond laser cataract surgery appeared to be safe and tolerated, using LenSx Laser System with a curved applanation patient interface.
