Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare refraction and visual acuity after SMILE operations in standard and expert modes.
Setting:
IRTC Eye Microsurgery Ekaterinburg Center, Ekaterinburg, Russia.
Methods:
The study included 2 groups of patients, 26 eyes in each. In the first group SMILE operation was performed in standard mode. In standard mode the following parameters for lenticule and flap formation were preset: track distance – 3.0 µm; spot distance – 3.0 µm. In the second group SMILE operation was performed in expert mode.
In expert mode the following parameters for lenticule and flap formation were preset: track distance – 3.5 µm; spot distance – 3.5 µm. Refraction and visual acuity were measured before the operation at day 1, in 1 and 3 months after the operation.
Results:
Changes of femtosecond laser working parameters in expert mode compared to standard mode does not exercise any significant influence on the obtained results of visual acuity and refraction after SMILE operation.
Conclusions:
Changes of femtosecond laser working parameters in expert mode compared to standard mode does not exercise any significant influence on the obtained results of visual acuity and refraction after SMILE operation.
