Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate safety and efficacy of intracorneal rings(ICR) implanted using femtosecond laser in stabilized keratoconus patients.
Setting:
Cornea center ,Alexandria, Egypt.
Methods:
Prospective non comparative case series.patients were treated with ICR implanted by femtosecond laser..UCVA,BSCVA,K reading, were measured in all cases before surgery and after 3,6 months and 1 year of follow up of 87 eyes of 64 stable keratoconus patients with moderate keratoconus .
Results:
The mean UCVA (Snellen decimal) changed from 0.14 (range, 0.05-0.3) preoperatively to 0.68 (range, 0.4-0.8) postoperatively. The mean BCVA changed from 0.73 (range, 0.5-0.9) preoperatively to (range, 0.6-0.9) 0.81 at last follow up postoperatively. There was no loss of lines of UCVA nor BCVA in any of our patients postoperatively.
Conclusions:
ICR can be a safe, effective and may provide a fuctional unaided vision for patients with stable keratoconus.
