Abstract Details
Purpose:
To show the surgical technic and results of Corneal CrossLinking (CXL) in patient with progressive keratectasia after radial and tangential keratotomy using excimer laser epithelial removal.
Setting:
Private clinic "New Vision" Kiev, Ukraine
Methods:
44 year old men with high myopia and keratectasia after keratotomy of both eyes, complaint of diplopia and decreased vision, vision acuity 12/20, corneal thickness 565 and irregular astigmatism -10,5 D, deep tangential incisions, was made CXL (It was performed according to Dresden's protocol). Zone of epithelial removing by excimer laser (Amaris, Schwind, eye-tech-solution) was chosen according to Pentacam data of posterior elevation map and programmed to 50 mum of thickness and 6,5 mm of diameter.
Results:
:Postoperatively: full epitalisation of the cornea on the 4th day, in one weak diplopoda disappeared, vision acuity 14/20, astigmatism reduction for 1.5 D, subjectevly there were no postoperative pain, just discomfort and worse vision acuity for the first 3 days.
Conclusions:
Excimer laser epithelial removal in CXL in patients with keratectasia after corneal incisions is less traumatically and more safety surgery technique, especially in cases with deep keratotomy.
