Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe the combined operation of a traumatic case of a 41 year old woman who had penetrating eye injury at age 27 resulting aphakia, aniridia, extramacular retinal scar, epiretinal membrane and cystoid macular edema,
Setting:
Ophthalmology Department, Flor Ferenc Hospital, Kistarcsa, Hungary
Methods:
Preoperative visual acuity was 0,2 with aphakic correction. Epiretinal membrane removal was performed during three port pars plana vitrectomy, then green coloured aniridia poserior chamber intraocular lens (PCL) was sutured in ciliary sulcus. Intraoperative decentration of PCL was corrected with additional suture in the sulcus.
Results:
Four week postoperatively uncorrected visual acuity (VA) was 0,15, cystoid macular edema decreased on optical coherence tomography. Cosmetic result made patient very satisfied.
Conclusions:
Anterior and posterior segment traumatic cases can be succesfully trated by sulcus fixated aniridia lenses and epiretinal membrane removal.
