Abstract Details

Purpose:

Mature cataract presents with different ways. Management of these cases varies from case to case. Slit lamp photography of these cases help to prepare the mind set before start of surgery and analysis of steps of surgery for better visual outcome.

Setting:

Work done at Navneet hospital, Solapur, India

Methods:

Slit Lamp Photographs of Mature Cataract cases presented at Navneet Hospital, Solapur from 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2014 have been taken and analyzed. All steps of surgery like incision, capsulorhexis , nucleus management , irrigation & aspiration, insertion of PMMA or foldable lenses and role of OVDs varies from case to case. These all steps can be presumed by seeing slit lamp photographs which has been narrated in this poster.

Results:

Slit Lamp Photography is important for further plan of surgery for better surgical procedure. Decision of converting to Small incision cataract surgery or Extracapsular cataract surgery is also important and can be taken prior to surgery.

Conclusions:

Slit Lamp Photography of mature cataract cases is really helpful to analyse and to prepare the mindset of surgeon before the surgery for better surgical work up with less complication and finally better visual outcome.
