Abstract Details

Purpose:

The purpose of this work is to evaluate if the use of Cassini True Corneal Shape Analysis (Cassini) will improve the accuracy in assessing cornea astigmatism preoperative to RLE treatments compared to current used devices in Memira.

Setting:

Private refractive surgery clinic Memira, Stavanger, Norway.

Methods:

The study involves a consecutive series of 60 eyes from 30 patients undergoing RLE surgery from January to March 2015. Preoperative measurements were performed with Cassini, Orbscan IIz and Zeiss IOLMaster. Surgery was done using Memira standard operation procedure and temporal incisions. Results are recorded from follow up examination after 2-4 months ,including dilation of the pupil to determine actual axis of implantation for toric IOLs. The sum of the IOL cylinder power at the cornea plane and the postoperative refractive cylinder will give a close approximation to the actual corneal cylinder

Results:

The outcome measure is the difference between the postoperative calculated corneal cylinder and the preoperative measurements. The results will be a comparison of how close the measurements of Cassini, Orbscan and IOLmaster are to the calculated actual corneal cylinder, both magnitude and axis.

Conclusions:

The conclusion will be whether the prediction of the effective refractive cylinder following toric implantation can be improved by using Cassini True Corneal Shape Analysis.
