Abstract Details
Purpose:
We aimed to compare measurements taken with two corneal topographers: the i.Profiler and the Atlas.
Setting:
University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain
Methods:
Twenty healthy right eyes underwent measurement using both the i.Profiler (Carl Zeiss, Meditech) and the Atlas corneal topographer (Carl Zeiss, Meditech). Each subject right eye was examined by the same operator, and measurements were performed consecutively in the automated mode. Values for RMS spherical aberration (RMS_SA), RMS vertical coma (RMS_VC) and High Order Aberrations (HOAs) were compared. All the measurements were calculated for a pupil diameter of 3 and 5 mm.
Results:
Values (SD) for RMS_SA at 3 mm were 0,022 (0,020) μm and 0,005 (0,161) μm, respectively for the i.Profiler and Atlas while at 5 mm were found increased. In terms of RMS_VC at 3 mm were 0,031 (0,055) μm and 0,035 (0,076) μm, respectively for the i.Profiler and Atlas. At 5 mm were 0,134 (0,042) μm for i.Profiler and 0,180 (0,146) μm for Atlas. HOAs at 3 mm were 0,007 (0,023) μm and 0,027 (0,120) μm, respectively for the i.Profiler and Atlas, while at 5 mm raise to 0,026 (0,156) and 0,162 (0,184). By comparing the datas no significant difference was found (p>0,05).
Conclusions:
The Zeiss i.Profiler and the Zeiss Atlas corneal topographer results are slightly different but no statistical significance was found. From our datas we can conclude that they may be used as alternative methods for measuring corneal wavefront aberrations.
