Abstract Details
Purpose:
This study was made to find out Irvine Gass syndrome - cystoid macular edema reaction to first time anti-VEGF treatment and to compere the results with world ophthalmology literature data.
Setting:
In a retrospective study were analyzed clinicaly significant CME patients after cataract surgery in year 2014 in Pauls Stradins clinical university hospitl.
Methods:
Data as central macular thickness with OCT, visual acuity before anti VEGF therapy and 1 week after 1st injection, time of onset of the complaints were analyzed. The results were compered with the world ophtalmology literature.
Results:
Together 7 patients (8 eyes) were included in the study with clinicaly significant CME. 2 male, 5 female patients. Avarage age 75.41 ± 0.41. the avarage time period after cataract surgery to significant complainment 5 weeks. The avarage macular thickness before anit-VEGF therapy 427.37 µm, after – 325.23 µm. The avarege macular thickness decresed by 102.14 µm (p=0.1). Best corrected visual acuity incresed by 2.5 lines. (the avarage Visus before injection = 0.38; Visus after injection = 0.63.)
Conclusions:
Even if the results are statistically unproved, the macular thickness changes after injection, visual acuity, time of onset of the complaints are similar as in the world ophthalmology literature.
