Abstract Details

Purpose:

To report the management of corneal decompensation in a pseudophakic patient with Ozurdex®(Allergan) implant in the posterior chamber that migrated to anterior chamber.

Setting:

Eye Clinic Day Hospital, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences Department, Paulista School of Medicine, Federal University of Sao Paulo

Methods:

Case report of a patient that have pseudo exfoliation syndrome, in which was performed phacoemulsification with no complications. After seven years due to zonules fragility caused by pseudoexfoliation, the IOL-Bag complex luxated to the vitreous chamber. Pars plana vitrectomy was performed with iris fixation of the IOL. The patient had cystoid macular edema after the surgery, treated with Dexametasone 0,7mg(Ozurdex®) in the posterior chamber. The implant migrated to anterior chamber with corneal decompensation.

Results:

Before the implant migration, the patient referred good visual acuity without macular edema. The pictures, OCTs and the case evolution will be showed.

Conclusions:

The use of Ozurdex® has to be well indicated in patients with the absence of IOL-Bag-Zonule complex and vitrectomized
