Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe the technique of releasing the foldable hydrophilic acrylic IOL stucked in the injector.
Setting:
Divyadrishti Eye Centre a superspeciality eye hospital at Patna, India
Methods:
Retrospective study of seven cases of senile cataract who underwent phacoemulsification with 2.8 mm of incision with complicated implantation of hydrophilic acrylic IOL .In all cases the leading haptic delivered in anterior chamber but the trailing haptic got stuck between plunger and wall of cartridge.As it could not be released by any means,the wall of cartridge was incised with 11 no.Bard Parkar knife taking care not to injure the IOL.
Results:
All seven cases could be released safely without damage to any part of IOL and successfully implanted in the bag.
Conclusions:
Stuck haptic of IOL can be rescued by releasing the pressure in the cartridge by incising the wal.
