Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare predictibility, postoperative binocular distance visual acuity, near visual acuity and complication rate after femtosecond laser assisted and routine standart phacoemulsification with a multifocal refractive IOL.

Setting:

Dr.Solomatin Eye Centre, Riga, Latvia.

Methods:

The study included 60 patients (120 eyes). 30 patients (60 eyes) underwent bilateral FALC surgery and 30 patients (60 eyes) underwent standart phacoemulsification procedure with a single type of multifocal refractive IOL implantation. Predictability, efficacy and stability of binocular postoperative distance and near visual acuity and complication rate of the 2 groups ( FLACS and standart phacoemulsification group) were analysed during follow-up visits ( 6. months post-op).

Results:

Postoperative distance visual acuity was -0.05 ± 0.59 logMAR in the femto group and -0.05 ± 0.65 logMAR in the standard group (p=0.87). Postoperative near visual acuity was J2 or better in 85% of eyes in femto group and 84% in the standart group (p=0.41). No introoperative and pstoperative complications were documented during the period of 6 months.

Conclusions:

Both FLACS and standart phacoemulsification had no statistical significan difference in simmilar and comparable refractive and visual outcomes.
