Abstract Details

Purpose:

To assess the 3 focal distances of the AT LISA tri 839/939 MP compared with the bifocal intraocular lenses AT LISA 809/909 MP

Setting:

OPHTEO, 52 avenue Marechal de Saxe, Lyon 6

Methods:

A retrospective study included 76 (152 eyes) patients who had a multifocal IOL implantation after a bilateral PRELEX surgery with the same type of implant in both eyes. Group 1 (40 eyes) had AT LISA 809; Group 2 (46 eyes) had AT LISA tri 839; Group 3 (50 eyes) had AT LISA toric 909;Group 4 (16 eyes) had AT LISA toric 939. UIVA (uncorrected intermediate visual acuity), UDVA (uncorrected distance visual acuity) and UNVA (uncorrected near visual acuity), monocular and binocular, were measured at 1 month.

Results:

The average binocular UIVA was respectively 20/30 and 20/28 for the group 1 and the group 3 and 20/22 for the group 2 and the group 4. This difference was statistically significant (p<0.05) and increased in monocular vision (p<0.05). We noted no difference in terms of binocular UDVA or UNVA between each group (p>0.05). The monocular UDVA for patients of the group 2 was higher than monocular UDVA of the group 1 (p<0.05).

Conclusions:

With a significant difference in terms of UIVA, but no statistically difference in terms of UDVA or UNVA, the AT LISA tri 839/939 MP, compared to the AT LISA 809/909 MP, improve the intermediate vision without affecting far and near vision. Considering the development of PRELEX surgery implying younger patients and a higher request of intermediate vision, these results are promising.
