Session Title: Multifocal IOLs and Advanced Optic

Session Date/Time: Tuesday 08/09/2015 | 09:00-10:30

Paper Time: 09:00

Venue: Main Auditorium

First Author: : J.Bille USA

Co Author(s): :    R. Sahler

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To use a femtosecond laser to modify an implanted intraocular lens (“IOL”)

Setting:

A setup with a laser (Spectra Physics), an Cambridge scanner and a high numerical aperture microscope Objective was used in the process. The Spherical Aberration, MTF and Diopter measurement was tested using the Nimo 0815 (LambdaX). Perfect Lens LLC,Irvine, CA, United States

Methods:

A number of IOLs were modified by creating a layer within the IOL which modified the refractive properties of the IOLs. The modifications were done in a manner which complied with applicable laser safety regulations.

Results:

A layer of refractive index change was created in a IOL in a manner which creates a modification in the refractive properties of the IOL

Conclusions:

The process can be used to alter the refractive characteristics of the an implanted IOL.
