Abstract Details

Purpose:

To investigate objective optical quality of femtosecond laser small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) with CCL for moderate to high myopia.

Setting:

ENT Hospital, Fudan University, Key Laboratory of Health Ministry for Myopia, Shanghai 200031, China

Methods:

A Prospective clinical study. 100 eyes of 50 patients (20males, 30females) involved the program. Group A (group CCL): using the continuous curvilinear lenticulerrhexis technique, Group B:standard SMILE procedure. each patient experienced a 6-month follow-up after surgery. An optical quality analysis system (OQAS) was used to measure modulation transfer function cutoff frequency (MTFcutoff, cycle per degree, cpd), Strehl2D ratio (SR) and objective scatter index (OSI).

Results:

6 months postoperatively, all the subjects were satisfactory with the outcome, with mean safety index of 1.10±0.15 and mean efficacy index of 1.16±0.18. There was no significant difference between two groups in Mean OSI at 6 months (P value is greater than 0.05). MTFcutoff and SR did not change significantly compared with their preoperative values (P value is greater than 0.05).

Conclusions:

CCL is safe technique in SMILE for myopia, SMILE show little impact on optical quality.
