Abstract Details
Purpose:
Supracor, the lasik-based method of presbyopia correction creates multifocal corneal surface and provides near addition zone without undesired abberations induction. The purpose of our work was to study the long-terms results of Supracor, its safety and effectiveness in cases of presbyopia.
Setting:
Eye Center ,East Sight Recovery, Moscow, Russia
Methods:
Supracor was performed in 122 eyes of 61 patients with presbyopia combined with hyperopia. All patients were 46-65 years of age and the long-term period of observation was 4 years. Before Supracor average sphere equivalent was +2.6, uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA) was 0.12, uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) was 0.52. Average keratometry was 42.5. The addition for near vision was 1.75 D.
Supracor was performed on excimer laser Technolas 217Z (Bausch@Lomb)
Results:
First day after the procedure almost in all cases the increase of high order aberrations was detected and it was due to incomplete flap adhesion during first days after the operation. Average UDVA and UNVA were respectively 0.77 and 0.79 first day after operation and 0.85 and 0.77 1 month after operation and kept stable during all follow up period.
Conclusions:
Supracor turned to be a successful method of presbyopia correction in cases of its combination with hyperopia of different degrees. The results were stable in 1 month after the procedure. There were no complications observed during the procedure and in postop period.
