Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the clinical performance, efficicacy and safety of a Restor IOL

Setting:

Clinical of Ophthalmology, Pomeranian Medical University, Szczecin, Poland

Methods:

Prospective study comprising 40 eyes of 20 patients undergoing cataract surgery with implantation of the implantation of the AcrySof IQ Restor lens +2.50 in dominant eye and + 3.0 in the fellow eye. Three months postoperatively were evaluated: binocular uncorrected distance, intermediate and near visual acuities (UDVA, UIVA, UNVA)(logMAR), uncorrected binocular photopic and mesopic distance and photopic near contrast sensitivities (CSV-1000), spectacle independence, subjective symptoms, patient satisfaction (VFQ-25) and complications.

Results:

Three months after binocular uneventhful surgery UDVA was equal of 0.1 or better. All eyes had binocular vision at 40 cm higher than 0.3. The intermediate vision was better than 0.4. Contrast sensitivities under different conditions were within normal age-matched limits. Almost all patients were spectacle independed. Low level of halo peception was reported, less than 2 (0-4). Mean overall patient satisfaction was very high, more than 9.0 (0-10). No intra and postoperative complications were detected.

Conclusions:

Mixing Restor lenses was a safe and effective method for patients who want to be spectacle independent at different distances.
