Abstract Details
Purpose:
To use the photo-induced, refractive index change to create a custom spherical aberration inside a standard acrylic hydrophobic intraocular lens (EC-1Y, Zeiss).
Setting:
A setup with a laser (MaiTai HP, Spectra Physics), an AOM (Gooch and Housego), a 2D scan system (Newson), ultra-precise 3D linear motor setup and a high numerical aperture microscope Objective was used in the process. The Spherical Aberration, MTF and Diopter measurement was performed using the Nimo 0815 (LambdaX).
Perfect Lens LLC, irvine, CA , United States
Methods:
A number of lenses with a diameter of 4.8mm was produced, the conic constant k for the lenses was varied for all lenses to produce a look up table to compare k value and spherical aberration for the concave and convex refractive index lenses.
Results:
Spherical aberrations between -0.27 to +0.28 had been induced into the standard intraocular lenses.
Conclusions:
The hydrophilicity based refractive index change can be used to create a custom asphic lens inside the standard intraocular EC-1Y lens material
