Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate safety and efficacy of SMILE on follow up for high myopia more than -10.
Setting:
Roaya Vision Center,Alexandria, Egypt
Methods:
Prospective non comparative case series carried out on 286 eyes of 184 myopic patients of errors more than 10D treated with femtosecond laser SMILE. Uuncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) , best spectacle corrected visual acuity(BSCVA), manifest refraction and contrast sensitivity were measured in all cases.
Results:
Mean preoperative UCVA , BSCVA and spherical equivalents were 0.05 ,0.67 and -12.93 respectively. Mean postoperative UCVA,BSCVA , spherical equivalent were 0.78,0.86 and -0.83 respectively. A few operative and postoperative complications were reported in our case series.
Conclusions:
SMILE is a safe and effective procedure with long term refractive stability.
