Abstract Details
Purpose:
A new ocular “one-click” biometer (MirriconTM, ClearSight Innovations, Dublin, Ireland) providing ocular parameter by high-resolution noncontact measurements. The study evaluates the validity and repeatability of these measurements compared with current clinical instrumentation.
Setting:
Mater Private Hospital, City Gate, Mahon, Cork, Ireland; ClearSight Innovations, Dublin, Ireland; IROC Science, Zurich, Switzerland
Methods:
Measurements were taken with the Mirricon, OB820 (Alcon WaveLight, Erlangen, Germany) and the Oculyzer (Pentacam, Oculus, Wetzlar, Germany) on 118 eyes of 98 patients aged from 48 to 89 years listed for cataract surgery. The LOCS scaling ranged from I to IV.
Correlation of anterior radius of curvature and anterior chamber depth was compared among all 3 devices. Axial length and lens thickness between Mirricon and OB820 as such metrics are not available from the Oculyzer. The posterior corneal astigmatism was compared only to the Oculyzer as such metric are not available from the OB820.
Results:
The correlation coefficients for all metrics were found to be significant and ranging from R = 0.81 for Posterior Corneal Radius to 0.99 for Axial Length. All eyes could be measured with the Mirricon, 7 eyes were not measureable with the OB820 and all eye could be measured with the Oculyzer.
Conclusions:
Mirricon combines the information provided from OB820 and Oculyzer in one device. The clinical results demonstrate equivalent measurement results. Mirrion could successfully measure more eyes than the OB820.
