48 eyes of 45 patients underwent DALK using the big bubble technique. Intra - and post-operative complications were recorded. Follow up period was 1 year.
The main indication was keratoconus , followed by corneal dystrophies and post-infection corneal scars.
Intra-operative complications: Microperforation in 27 cases(39.5% ), Macroperforation in 2 cases (4.2%), Failure to obtain the big bubble in 5 cases (10.4%)
Post-operative complications: Double Anterior Chamber that required intracameral air injection in 2 cases (4.2%), visually significant Descemet`s folds in 3 cases(6.3%), interface haze in 3 cases (6.3%),stromal rejection in 1 case (2.1%) , persistant epithelial defect in 2 cases (4.2%) No cases of endothelial rejection were recorded
