Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare anterior camber depth (ACD), (the measurement from the anterior surface of the cornea to the anterior surface of the cristalline lens), using three different devices: Orbscan II, IOL Master 500 and ultrasonic A-scan (inmersion technique).
Setting:
Clinica Baviera Malaga, Spain
Methods:
A retrospective review of 128 phakic eyes with normal anterior segments, and no prior ocular surgery. Patients underwent ACD meaurements with the three devices during the same session by the same examiner. We evaluated the comparability of measurements abtained.
Results:
The mean ACD for the Orbscan II was 3.17 +- 0.40 mm, for the IOL Master was 3.26 +-0.39 mm and for de ultrasonic A scan was 3.32 +- 0.41 mm, This differences were statistically significant.
Correlation was highly significant, between Orbscan II and IOL Master (r=0.924), between Orbscan II and ultrasonic A scan (r=0.923) and between IOL Master and ultrasonic A scan (r=0.94).
Conclusions:
In phakic eyes ACD measurements correlate well between Orbscan II, IOL Master 500 and ultrasonic A scan, but with significant different values, this should be taken into account when assessing cataract surgery or ICL implantation. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
