Abstract Details

Purpose:

To compare visual outcomes and patient satisfaction following bilateral implantation of either the AT LISA 839MP trifocal IOL or the Tecnis Symfony extended range of focus IOL.

Setting:

BMI Southend Private Hospital,UK

Methods:

Visual acuity was measured at distance, intermediate (70cms) and near (40cms) using LogMAR acuity charts. Contrast sensitivity was assessed and defocus curves plotted. A patient satisfaction questionnaire was also used.

Results:

Both groups had post-op spherical equivalent of <0.25D. UDVA, UIVA and UNVA for the AT LISA Trifocal was 0.06, 0.16 and 0.12LogMAR respectively. For the Symfony IOL, UDVA was -0.03, UIVA was 0.14 and UNVA was 0.29. The only statistically significant difference was in the near range.

Conclusions:

Both groups of patient show high satisfaction scores, dysphotopsia was reported in both groups but was not problematic. Excellent acuity results were achieved in both groups, however the Trifocal performs better in the near range. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
