Abstract Details
Purpose:
To compare visual and refractive results of LASIK using microkeratome and femtosecond in moderate hyperopia.
Setting:
Special Eye Hospital 'Svjetlost', Zagreb, Croatia; School of Medicine University of Rijeka, Rijeka,Croatia.
Methods:
Retrospective study on 30 eyes (15 patients) who underwent microkeratome LASIK and 30 eyes (15 patients) who underwent femtosecond LASIK.
We measured preoperative and postoperative amount of high order aberrations, uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) and corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) visual acuity (Snellen lines) at 1 week, 1 and 3 months after the procedure. Follow up was 3 months.
Results:
In microkeratome and femtosecond group UDVA and CDVA improved postoperatively (p=0,02) There was no statistically signifficant difference in high order aberrations between the groups preoperativelly (p>0,05) In both groups there was statistically signifficant increase in coma in first week(p=0,009, p<0,001) and decrease in the rest of the follow up(p= 0,029,p=0,019)There was no statistically signifficant difference in trefoil(p>0,05) There was no statistically signifficant difference in trefoil(p>0,05) the follow up.In both groups SA shifted toward more negative values in first week (p, while the difference dissapeared in the rest of the follow up(p>0,05)
