Abstract Details
Purpose:
To assess the application of extreme mono vision either with intraocular lens surgery or with corneal refractive excimer laser as a viable method for diplopia treatment
Setting:
Ophthalmos Research and Therapeutic Institute, Ygeia Hospital, Athens, Greece
Methods:
Case series of 10 patients with longstanding diplopia that underwent induction of extreme mono vision by cataract surgery (5 patients) or cornea refractive surgery (3 pseudophakic, 2 phakic patients). Myopia between -2,75 and -3,50 was induced in the non dominant eye.
Results:
Reduction or elimination of symptoms was reported by all patients with no compromise in their distance visual acuity.
Conclusions:
Extreme mono vision is a useful approach when trying to reduce or eliminate symptoms of longstanding diplopia. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
