Orbital tumors patients conducted operative action in operating rooms in Hospital Haji Adam Malik Medan Indonesia: period 2011-2013

Abstract Details

Purpose:

Orbital tumors are quite common and have high morbidity and mortality rates. The prevalence in developing countries as well as Indonesia is quite high. This study aimed to know the characteristics of Orbital Tumors patients at Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan as referral center hospital region of the island of Sumatera on January 2011 until December 2013,

Setting:

Patients datas was taken from the book of medical record in hospital operating rooms in Hospital Haji Adam Malik Medan Indonesia

Methods:

This is a descriptive study with case series. The study's population comprised of 68 Orbital tumors cases.

Results:

The age range of Orbital tumors is highest in 41 - 50 age groups ( 20.6 % ) for both male and female, or the >= 13 by age group of children, young adults, older adults and senile age ( 82.4 % ). The male group suffered more Orbital tumors ( 52.0 % ) than female group. The left eye is more commonly involved ( 54.4 % ) than the right eye. In bivariate analysis, there is no significance between sex and age group.

Conclusions:

Haji Adam Malik Hospital could hold seminars for increasing public awareness about early signs and symptoms of Orbital tumors. And on medical record-keeping, it is advisable to include also the data type of the patient's occupation, and length and when of eye disorders begin. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
