Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate the agreement of keratometry measurements obtained using iTrace and Tomey, and to assess the intra-observer repeatability of these measurements.

Setting:

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida, USA.

Methods:

Thirty eyes of 30 preoperative cataract surgery patients with no history of ocular disease or surgery were included in this prospective study. Patients underwent keratometric measurements 3 times by same examiner using iTrace and Tomey in the same session. Bland–Altman method used for the statistical analysis.

Results:

Mean step Ks, mean Flat Ks, mean Ave Ks are look like similar with iTrace and Tomey. The range of limits of agreement between Tomey and iTrace Refractive Keratometry values was more than 1D and this result may not be acceptable clinically (p=0.01). The range of limits of agreement according to Bland-Altman method between Tomey and iTrace Simulated-Keratometry values was also more than 1D and this result may not be acceptable clinically (p=0.53). Intra-device range of limits of agreements were about 0.6 D, however inter-device of them were more than 1 D.

Conclusions:

The corneal power values provided by the iTace and Tomey showed good intraobserver repeatability in corneal power measurement. However our data showed that agreement in keratometric measurements between the iTrace and Tomey may not be acceptable clinically. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
