Abstract Details
Purpose:
To demonstrate the use of Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography (AS-OCT) as a monitoring tool in two cases of corneal melt.
Setting:
The study took place in a private ophthalmic unit.
Methods:
A high speed spectral domain AS-OCT (840nm, RTVue®) was used and cross-sectional images were obtained during the course of the treatment.
Results:
The images obtained on each follow-up were compared and the healing process was monitored by measuring the corneal thickness. Once Seidel negative was observed, a bandage contact lens was placed as adjuvant to assist in corneal healing, with satisfactory resolution in both cases.
Conclusions:
AS-OCT is a valuable tool for the assessment of the healing process of corneal melt. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
