Treatment of anterior chamber epithelial inclusion cyst with Nd:YAG laser: a case report

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To present a case of epithelial inclusion cyst of the iris treated successfully with the use of Nd:YAG laser.

Setting:

Ophthalmology clinic, «O Agios Dimitrios» General Hospital of Thessaloniki

Methods:

A 62 year old male presented to our clinic with complains for haloes in his left eye and a discomfort sensasion. His medical history was remarkable There was no history of associated trauma, surgery or any long term medication in his left eye.. The patient was diagnosed with primary epithelial iris cyst. Left eye was subjected to Nd:YAG laser cystotomy to the cyst wall.

Results:

After treatment, at six month and 1 year follow–up the anterior chamber was deep and clear and there was no recurrence of the iris cyst.

Conclusions:

A non-invasive procedure such as laser cystotomy with Nd:YAG laser is most appropriate as treatment for the iris cyst. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
