Abstract Details
Purpose:
To highlight the difficulties in calculation of toric intraocular lenses in eyes with previous RK
Setting:
Ophthalmos Research and Therapeutic Institute, Athens
Methods:
Case report. Recalculation of a toric intraocular lens was performed after the initial miscalculation that resulted in a big refractive surprise 6 weeks post surgery. Use of preoperative keratometric readings rather than the postoperative ones was preferred
Results:
IOL recalculation based on the preoperative rather than the postoperative K readings in view of the recent surgery gave an accurate result
Conclusions:
Toric IOL implantation in eyes with previous RK can be very challenging. In case of lens exchange use of correct keratometric readings is crucial FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
