Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate results in cataract eyes after phacoemulsification and trifocal Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation.
Setting:
C.M.A. Centro Microchirurgia Ambulatoriale Monza, Italy
Methods:
87 eyes of 53 patients (mean age: 67.23±11.10 yrs) underwent phaco and trifocal IOL (AT LISA tri 839 MP, Carl Zeiss Meditec) implantation. Postoperatively, distance (5m) near (30cm) and intermediate (70 cm) visual acuity, and contrast sensitivity were measured.
Results:
Preoperative distance UCVA was 20/126 ± 72.87. At 3 years, distance UCVA was 20/42 ± 30.40 , monocular and binocular vision was 20/23. Monocular intermediate vision was 20/32, binocular intermediate vision 20/26.
Conclusions:
Trifocal IOL provided good distance, near and intermediate vision, while maintaining contrast sensitivity.
