Toric Extended Range of Vision IOL Prospective none comparative study

Abstract Details

Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to obtain postoperative data on rotational stability, subjective refraction, near, intermediate and distance visual acuity of patients with bilateral implantation of the TECNIS® Symfony Toric IOL.

Setting:

Private Eye Clinic in Haugesund, Norway

Methods:

Single-centered non-comparative open-labelled prospective study. It is planned to obtain 24 evaluable subject data sets. A total number of 30 patients will be recruited to account for a 20% dropout rate. Follow up visits at Day 1, Week 1 and Week 12-14 after surgery.

Results:

At present 10 subjects are recruited and 5 have performed surgery in this study. Preliminary clinical data are only available for 5 subjects for Day 1 and Week 1 visits. The study will be fully recruited by December 1st 2015, which will allow us to present a complete dataset of the end analysis at 12 to 14 weeks after surgery. Postoperative data on rotational stability, subjective refraction, near, intermediate and distance visual acuity of patients with bilateral implantation of the TECNIS® Symfony Toric IOL will be presented.

Conclusions:

Monofocal Extended Range of Vision IOL`s (Symphony) are known to be very well excepted, with only few and insignificant optical side effects. Treating both spherical and toric refractive errors at the time of primary surgery is very important using any advanced technology IOL`s. The ability to hit the refractive target and prove stability over time is one of the key factors to surgical success. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
