The development of glistenings and posterior capsule opacification after MX-60 IOL implantation

Abstract Details

Purpose:

To assess the development of glistenings and posterior capsuleopacification, one year following MX-60 iol implantation. Preliminary results.

Setting:

University Hospital of Alexandrouplois, Greece

Methods:

70 patients underwent uncomplicated cataract extraction surgery with torsional ip technology and received MX-60 lens through a 2.75mm central incision. One year postperatively retroillumination images were obtained and PCO area were evaluated using computer software EPCO 2000. Scheimpflug images were obtained with Pentacam, to evaluate glistenings which were graded subjectively at the slitlamp and quantified objectively by digital Image J analysis.

Results:

No significant increase in PCO was observed up to one year postoperatively. Preliminary one year results indicated no glistening development.

Conclusions:

Envista MX-60 demonstrates excellent postoperative behaviour one year after cataract extraction surgery. FINANCIAL DISCLOUSRE: NONE
