Abstract Details

Purpose:

To evaluate visual outcome after one year experiences with implantation of the Tecnis Symfony Extended Range of Vision intraocular lens (IOL).

Setting:

University Eye Hospital Svjetlost, Zagreb, Croatia

Methods:

Two hundred thirty six (236) Tecnis Symfony IOLs were implanted after cataract surgery or refractive lens exchange in the period from July 2014 to July 2015. Uncorrected distant visual acuity (UCDVA), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UCIVA) at 66 cm, uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA), spectacle independence, patient satisfaction and visual disturbances were measured. Follow up was at least 3 months.

Results:

We targeted emmetropy in dominant eye and mild myopia, up to -0,50 D in non dominant eye. Three patients sometimes wear reading glasses for small print. LASIK enhancement due to postoperative astigmatism more than 0,75 D was performed to 3 patients, four eyes. Night driving visual disturbances reported 5,3% of patients.

Conclusions:

After one year experience with implantation of TECNIS® Symfony Extended Range of Vision IOL we have highly satisfied and spectacle independent patients. Mild myopic shift up to -0.5 D in non dominant eye improves near vision without compromising distance and intermediate.
