Abstract Details
Purpose:
To evaluate quality of life and the clinical outcomes following implantation of Eyhance monofocal intraocular lens (IOL).
Setting:
Retrospective case series, Bayindir Hospital, Ankara
Methods:
This study included 52 eyes of 42 patients who underwent cataract surgery and implantation of Tecnis Eyhance monofocal intraocular lens (Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.). Manifest refraction, uncorrected and corrected distance visual acuity (UDVA and CDVA; respectively), uncorrected intermediate visual acuity (UIVA, 60cm) and uncorrected near visual acuity (UNVA, 40cm), defocus curves, presence of dysphotopsia, need for spectacles, photopic and mesopic contrast sensitivity (CS), visual function-14 (VF-14) tests were evaluated at 3rd postoperative month.
Results:
Mean UDVA was 0.06± 0.07, CDVA 0.14± 0.15, UIVA 0.11 ± 0.13 and UNVA 0.29± 0.09 logmar. Defocus curve showed two peaks at 0 0 and -0.50 D. All of the patients was spectacle independent for intermediate vision. The mean VF-14 test result was 92.4±6(81.8-100). None of the patients reported optical phenomena. Photopic and mesopic contrast sensitivity was normal in all patients.
Conclusions:
This new monofocal IOL effectively provides intermediate vision with complete spectacle independence in our series. Patients satisfaction was high.
