TERMS AND CONDITIONS
» You must use the same email address for submitting an abstract as you will for registering for the Congress in Amsterdam (same as you used for Marrakech Winter Meeting).
» All submissions must be made online by the deadline, 22 March 2020
» Abstracts submitted in hard copy format will not be considered.
» Once you have submitted your abstract you will be sent an email summary. Please check this to make sure all information is correct. The organisers will not accept any responsibility for abstracts that have not been submitted properly.
» All abstracts MUST be submitted in the presenting author’s name. Any abstract without an assigned presenter may not be considered for review.
» Please create ONE account only.
» Submitters can edit their abstracts up to the deadline by logging back into the Call for Papers section online.
» Abstracts will be considered from Vision Scientists only if they work in an academic department and have an ophthalmologist as a co-author. Abstracts from company staff will not be accepted.
ABSTRACT TYPES
» An author may submit a maximum of two abstracts in the following categories: free paper, video competition, video library and video symposium.
» Only one abstract may be submitted in the following categories: poster, presented poster and case report.
» Only one free paper will be accepted per author for oral presentation. If a second free paper abstract is accepted, it will be considered for possible presentation in the ‘Poster Village’. This format will be in the style of an electronic poster, but will include an oral presentation. Authors must be present to defend and discuss their paper.
» If you are submitting a free paper or a poster, you must ensure to choose a theme from the options given.
» All abstracts will initially be reviewed, graded and accepted or rejected by the Programme Committee. The Committee reserves the right to determine whether a free paper submission is accepted as an oral presentation or a poster. The decision of the Committee is final.
» If a paper or poster is accepted for presentation, the first author must undertake to present it. The presenter must be a registered delegate at the Congress and pay all applicable fees.
» Failure to present without prior notice to the Programme Committee may influence future acceptance of presentations.
» All abstracts selected will be posted online at escrs.org. The abstract will appear exactly as submitted.
TRAINEE CONGRESS BURSARIES
» A number of bursaries will be awarded to ESCRS trainee members who have a free paper or poster accepted for presentation at the Amsterdam Congress. Recipients will receive complimentary meeting registration and €1,000 to cover their travel and hotel expenses.
» To be considered, trainees should select 'I am an ESCRS trainee member' when filling out the abstract form.
» Bursary recipients will be selected from among the highest scoring accepted free papers and posters. Please note that there will be a limit on how many bursaries are awarded to trainees from the same country.
ABSTRACT FORMAT
All submitted free paper, poster and video abstracts must be in English and follow the structured format below:
- Title – max 250 characters
- Purpose – max 100 words
- Setting – max 50 words
- Methods – max 100 words
- Results – max 100 words
- Conclusions – max 100 words
- Financial Disclosure of all authors
All submitted case report abstracts must be in English and follow the structured format below:
- Title - max 250 characters
- Purpose - max 100 words
- Setting - max 50 words
- Report of case - max 300 words
- Conclusion/Take home message - max 150 words
» The summary of results presented must be given in sufficient detail to support the conclusions. The Programme Committee will only accept abstracts with final results or conclusions.
» References and credits cannot be included as part of an abstract.
» Formulae should, in general, be avoided.
» When using abbreviations or acronyms for the first time, care should be taken to spell them out in full with the abbreviation in parentheses after the full word/s the first time it appears in the text. The abbreviation should be used alone thereafter.
» Indicate whether the presenting author or any co-author has a financial interest in the subject matter or receives money from any mentioned company.
» Any financial interest must be included on the first slide of the presentation.

First, second and third prizes of €2000, €1000 and €500 are awarded to the best cataract and refractive posters. Posters are judged based on: Originality, scientific quality, relevance to clinical practice and presentation.
In order to have their poster displayed, all poster authors must be registered delegates and must attend the Congress.
Case Report Presentations
» Only ONE CASE REPORT per presentation is permitted
» Each accepted case will be allocated 5 minutes. Please note that some abstracts submitted as a case report may be accepted as an electronic poster.

Video Rules & Regulations
- Any video that uses copyrighted music or material from movies will be automatically disqualified. It is the responsibility of the author to obtain permission from the owner for any music or material that is not 'Free to Use'. By submitting an abstract, the author accepts responsibility for all music and material used in their video and is liable for any copyright infringement pertaining to their video.
- The video must include a narration, music alone will not be accepted.
- The title and narration of the video must be in English.
- At the end of March, presenters will receive an email with an upload link to submit their video files. Detailed online support will be available during the upload process.
ALL VIDEOS MUST BE UPLOADED ONLINE. HARD COPIES OF VIDEOS SENT TO THE OFFICE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. - There are 3 categories of video presentation:

» If you choose to submit an abstract(s) we will use your personal details to keep you updated on its status including whether it has been accepted for presentation at the Congress concerned. If your abstract(s) is accepted for presentation at the Congress your contact details (name and email address) will be sent to a third party Audio Visual Company (M Events) in order for them to contact you in relation to uploading your presentation.
Please note the Scientific Programme Committee will meet in mid-June this year therefore the acceptance/rejection letters will be issued at the end of June.
