Abstract Details
Purpose:
to determine changes in OCT ANGIOGRAPHY (OCTA) in case of transient visual loss.
Setting:
Astrakhan State Medical University, Ophthalmological department "Astrakhan Clinical Hospital" of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Health "South Environmental Medical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency" of Russia
Methods:
We examined 36 people. Patients were conducted OCTA, and the examination of body and neurological status, duplex scanning of carotid arteries (DSCA), ECG.
Results:
According to the results of OCTA, all patients were divided into 3 groups. In the 1st group (10 persons) were determined cholesterol embolus in OCTA, in the DSCA was identified stenotic changes of the CA in 90% of cases (9 patients). In the 2nd group (17 persons) at OCTA have been identified platelet or calcific emboli, during the general examination in 47% of cases (8 patients) were identified stenotic changes of the CA, in 35% of cases (6 patients) - pathology of heart valves with calcification and in 12% of cases (2 patients) revealed hematologic disorders. In group 3 (9 persons) as a result of the OCTA no vascular emboli are seen, conducted a comprehensive study - DSCA, ECG, arteriography, in 33% (3 persons) of cases diagnosed migraine, 33% (3 persons) stenotic changes in the CA, in the remaining cases – giant cell arteritis.
Conclusions:
1. Investigation of the ocular fundus in the case of transient monocular total visual loss in most cases provides important information on the status of the eye vessels.
2. Vascular emboli in OCTA is a diagnostic guide in identification of systemic pathologies.
