Abstract Details
Purpose:
To describe the monitoring of ocular surface squamous neoplasia with OCT A, and evaluate their interest in making therapeutic decisions
Setting:
This study is made in Ophtalmology department at HASSAN II university hospital, Fez. Morocco, SIDI MOHAMED BEN ABDELLAH university Fez Morocco
Methods:
For each case of squamous cell carcinoma of the ocular surface, OCT is acquired before and after any treatment, whether surgical or by topical chemotherapy
The acquisitions were made by the Swept source OCT DRI Triton system from Topcon, Tokyo, Japan (1850 µm). We applied the OCT-A module intended for the retina by modifying the focal on the ocular surface
Results:
5 patients are followed during this period with a mean age of 52 years, female to male ratio was 4, in all cases the pre-therapeutic OCT A has shown a tumor vascularization and in corneo-conjunctival level more than that observed clinically in all cases
2 patients benefited from a surgical treatment and 3 trated with Mitomycin C eye drops,
The OCT A of control made it possible to extend the treatment with mitomycin beyond 4 cures in a single patient, and to change the choice to surgery in another
For operated patients, the absence of neovascular recurrence has ensured the absence of tumor recurrence
Conclusions:
there are many applications of OCT A for the exploration of corneal diseases, such as corneal neovascularization in the rejection of corneal transplants, infectious or neurotrophic keratitis,
OCT A may have an interest in tumor surveillance in post surgery or topical chemotherapy given the vascular richness of tumors of the ocular surface.
