Abstract Details
Purpose:
The aim of the current study is to report the clinical outcomes after cataract surgery with implantation of a new presbyopic intraocular lens (IOL) with Continuous Transitional Focus optic.
Setting:
Vissum Miranza. Alicante, Spain
Methods:
This study included 18 eyes of 9 patients (mean age 65±12 years) that were implanted with a presbyopic IOL with Continuous Transitional Focus optic, the Precizon presbyopic NVA IOL (ophtec). Distance, intermediate and near visual acuities, defocus curve, contrast sensitivity, patient satisfaction and quality of vision were measured. The follow-up was 6 months.
Results:
The uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) improved significantly with the surgery from 0.49±0.31 to 0.08±0.08 (p<0.01) LogMAR. The postoperative distance corrected near (DCNVA) and uncorrected near (UNVA) visual acuities were 0.16±0.08 and 0.22±0.12 LogMAR, respectively. Mean defocus curve showed a visual acuity of 0.36 LogMAR or better for defocus levels between +0.50 to -2.50D. Mean photopic contrast sensitivity with and without glare were similar to the normal values for the same age sample studied. Good patient satisfaction was obtained in quality of vision and satisfaction questionnaires outcomes.
Conclusions:
The Precizon presbyopic NVA IOL provides good far and near visual acuity as well as restores the visual function after cataract surgery with a good patient satisfaction.
