Abstract Details
Purpose:
The main purpose of this study is to compare two topographs, Pentacam and Sirius, and determine whether there are statistically significant differences in the results given by each of them. We also wanted to check the repeatability of both of them.
Setting:
.
Methods:
We selected 55 volunteers without revious corneal pathologies, of two different age ranges (25-35 and 55-65). The same examinator performed three consecutive tests in each eye, first with Pentacam, and, on the same day, in a period of less than 6 hours, with Sirius. This sequence was repeated after 4-6 weeks. From each test, we gathered: simulated keratometry, different keratometric values (apex, CCT and TCP), anterior chamber depth, asphericity index (Q) and high order aberrations. A total of 1320 were analyzed.
Results:
After calculating the standard deviations of each parameter and the intraclass correlation coefficient, we didn't find statistically significant differences intramachine or intermachine, for the parameters analyzed. The only parameter that seemed to variate more, even between tests performed at the same time, was the apex in Sirius. This may be due to the way it calculates this value.
Conclusions:
After this study, we can conclude that both Pentacam and Sirius have a high repeatability. Also, they give back similar results, leading us to infer that the data may be interchangeable.
