Abstract Details
Purpose:
Glaucoma drainage implants continue to gain more popularity in cases of refractory glaucoma and considered as the surgery of choice in anterior segment dysgenesis with refractory glaucoma. One of the complications of the glaucoma drainage implants is extrusion. Cyanoacrylate glue has been described to be used in many surgical procedures.
Setting:
The procedure takes place in a tertiary teaching hospital
Methods:
In this article, we describe a rare case of a tube defect and leak from an extruded glaucoma drainage device, and the novel use of cyanoacrylate for its management.
Results:
The novel use of cyanoacrylate glue for managing a tube defect can be considered by readers to avoid a bigger, more lengthy procedure to fix this rare complication
Conclusions:
The concept of using Cyanoacrylate in repairing a tube defect has allowed a safe and effective closure of the defect and treating the hypotony related to the leak, avoiding lengthy procedure and minimizing intra-operative, and postoperative complications.
