Abstract Details
Purpose:
Assessment of the effect of nootropic eye drops to peripheral visual field (VF) in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
Setting:
Clinical material was collected on the basis of the Republican Specialized Center for Eye Microsurgery in Tashkent. For the period January-February 2020.
Methods:
We examined 30 patients (60 eyes) with POAG I, II and III stage with a stable level of IOP. Patients were divided into 2 groups depending on the type of treatment: the 1st group (control) - 15 patients (30 eyes) who used OMK-2 3 times a day, and the 2nd group (main) - 15 patients (30 eyes) were prescribed the Vitalin forte medicine 3 times a day, the duration of drug injection was 1 month.
All patients underwent conventional ophthalmological examination methods, in particular, visometry with the best correction, biomicroscopy, gonioscopy, perimetry, as well as tonometry.
Results:
Due to nootropic treatment in the study groups we observed the following changes in the fields of vision. After treatment, total peripheral VF in the main group changed as follows: stabilization was observed in 70.7% of cases, positive dynamics in 16.0% of patients, and only 2 patients (13.3%) showed negative dynamics. In the control group, stabilization of the process was observed in 74.4% of patients, in 6.6% negative dynamics and in 19%, positive dynamics were revealed.
Conclusions:
As a result of the nootropic medicine use as the complex treatment of patients with compensated POAG, the VF can be significantly improved.
